Proposal to increase the number of places at Red Marsh Special School
Purpose | This is an informal consultation about making a prescribed alteration to a school in accordance with The School Organisation (Prescribed Alterations to Maintained Schools) (England) Regulations 2013. We are seeking your initial views about our proposal to further expand Red Marsh School, Holly Road, Thornton-Cleveleys, Lancashire, FY5 4HH and whether you think this is a good idea. We are proposing to expand the number of special school places by 20 by creating further satellite classes in Red Marsh School, Willow Campus, Ringway, Thornton-Cleveleys FY5 2NL. This is an initial informal consultation that we are carrying out as part of the process to make a change like this to the school. Red Marsh School is a special school for pupils with generic learning difficulties, catering for pupils aged 2-19. The proposal is to further expand the school by 20 creating two more classes in, Red Marsh School satellite provision; Willow Campus, Ringway, Thornton-Cleveleys FY5 2NL which is 1.6 miles away from Red Marsh School. The further satellite provision will be for children in reception or key stage one. All of the children attending the satellite provision will be on roll at Red Marsh School. Red Marsh School will be responsible for the education of these children and they will receive the same teaching and support as they would if they were taught on the Red Marsh School site. We have considered the options for increasing the number of special school places in the Fleetwood/Lytham St Annes area with the head teachers of the special schools in that area. We have discussed this proposal with the headteachers and governors of Red Marsh School and Northfold Primary School. We want to assure you that we will give careful consideration to all your comments and opinions. |
